Mudgalasya Svarga-nirvedaḥ
Mudgala’s Disenchantment with Heaven
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: te sarva eva rājānam abhijagmur yudhiṣṭhiram | abhigamya ca tat sarvaṃ śaśaṃsus tasya ceṣṭitam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Then all of them went to King Yudhiṣṭhira. Having approached him, they reported in full the conduct and doings of Duryodhana—laying bare his ill-intent and misdeeds, so that the righteous king might judge the matter in the light of dharma.
Wrongdoing is not merely personal; it becomes a matter for ethical scrutiny when it affects others. The verse highlights responsible governance: facts are brought before a dharmic ruler so that judgment and response can be guided by righteousness rather than rumor or impulse.
A group of people approach King Yudhiṣṭhira and narrate the full account of Duryodhana’s actions and schemes. The scene functions as a formal reporting of events to the central moral authority among the Pāṇḍavas.
