येतुतंसंश्रिता देवं नानावर्णास्तदा जना: | तानप्याहु: पारिषदान्‌ ब्राह्मणा: सुमहाबलान्‌,उस समय जिन-जिन नाना वर्णवाले जीवोंने उन स्कन्ददेवकी शरण ली, उन सबको ब्राह्मणोंने उनका महाबलवान्‌ पार्षद बताया है

ye tu taṁ saṁśritā devaṁ nānāvarṇās tadā janāḥ | tān apy āhuḥ pāriṣadān brāhmaṇāḥ sumahābalān ||

Markandeya said: “At that time, whatever beings of diverse appearances took refuge in that divine Lord (Skanda), the Brahmins also declared them to be his attendants—mighty members of his retinue.”
