Mārkaṇḍeya said: “O King, thus have I described to you, in due sequence, how those immeasurable fires—radiant, dispelling darkness, and great-souled—came into being.”

The verse emphasizes reverent transmission of sacred knowledge: cosmic or ritual realities (here, the fires) are to be understood through orderly narration and attentive listening, and their radiance symbolizes the removal of darkness—both literal and moral/intellectual.
Mārkaṇḍeya concludes a section of his discourse to the king, stating that he has already explained, in proper sequence, the origin of certain mighty, luminous fires described as immeasurable and darkness-dispelling.
