अप्रमेया यथोत्पन्ना: श्रीमन्तस्तिमिरापहा: । राजन्‌! इस प्रकार मैंने इन अप्रमेय, अन्धकारनिवारक तथा दीप्तिमान्‌ महामना अग्नियोंकी जिस क्रमसे उत्पत्ति हुई है, उसका तुमसे वर्णन किया

aprameyā yathotpannāḥ śrīmantas timirāpahāḥ | rājan! iti prakāreṇa mayā ime ’prameyā andhakāranivārakāś ca dīptimanto mahāmanā agnayaḥ yathākrameṇa utpannāḥ, tad varṇitaṃ tava ||

Mārkaṇḍeya said: “O King, thus have I described to you, in due sequence, how those immeasurable fires—radiant, dispelling darkness, and great-souled—came into being.”
