atharvā tv asṛjal lokān ātmanā lokya pāvakam | miṣatāṁ sarvabhūtānām unmamātha mahārṇavam ||
Markandeya said: Atharvan, by his own power, brought forth the worlds. Having beheld the Fire-god, and while all beings looked on, he churned the great ocean—thus manifesting creation in a wondrous act that displays ascetic potency and cosmic order.
