Adhyāya 22: Śālva’s Weapon-Shower, Dāruka’s Wounding, and the Māyā-Report of Vasudeva’s Father

dārukaṃ cābruvaṃ vīra muhūrta sthīyatām iti | tato 'pratihatam divyam abhedyam ativīryavat |

Vāyu-deva said: “O hero, I told Dāruka, ‘Stay here for just a little while.’ Then I prepared a divine weapon—unstoppable, unbreakable, and of tremendous power. In the narrative frame, the pause is not hesitation but disciplined timing: restraint and right sequencing are shown as part of righteous action, even when force is about to be unleashed.

Educational Q&A

Even in contexts of conflict, righteous action includes restraint and proper timing; power is to be applied deliberately, not impulsively.

Vāyu-deva instructs the charioteer Dāruka to wait briefly, and then he proceeds to ready a formidable divine weapon described as irresistible and unbreakable.
