अग्निवंशवर्णनम् (Agni-vaṃśa-varṇana) / The Genealogy and Function of Agni
शब्द: स्पर्शश्व॒ रूपं च तेजसो5थ गुणास्त्रय: । शब्द: स्पर्शश्व॒ वायौ तु शब्दश्वाकाश एव तु,शब्द, स्पर्श तथा रूप--ये तेजके तीन गुण हैं, शब्द और स्पर्श--ये दो गुण वायुके हैं तथा आकाशमें एक ही गुण है--शब्द
śabdaḥ sparśaś ca rūpaṃ ca tejaso 'tha guṇās trayaḥ | śabdaḥ sparśaś ca vāyau tu śabdaś cākāśa eva tu ||
The hunter-sage explains the natural order of the elements through their perceptible qualities: fire is known by three qualities—sound, touch, and form; wind has two—sound and touch; and space has only one—sound. By pointing to this graded structure, he frames ethical discernment as something grounded in clear knowledge of how the world is constituted, not in confusion or mere opinion.
