मार्कण्डेय उवाच एवं स छन्‍्द्यमानस्तु वरेण हरिणा तदा

Transliteration

Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: evaṃ sa chandyamānas tu vareṇa hariṇā tadā

Translation

Mārkaṇḍeya said: Thus, at that time, he—being urged on and enticed by the boon offered by the deer—was drawn forward, his resolve shaped by the lure of a promised reward.
