The Deity said: “Those ascetics whose highest aim is peace—self-restrained, disciplined in spirit, and intent on true understanding—constantly keep their minds fixed on Me alone. Ever contemplating Me, they worship Me, free from attachment and purified of the agitations of desire, anger, and hatred. Such seekers, sinless, sattvic, and devoid of ego, skilled in inner knowledge, live in steady devotion to Me.”
देव उवाच
True worship is defined as steady contemplation of the Divine grounded in inner peace, self-restraint, and the pursuit of spiritual knowledge. The verse links devotion with ethical purification—freedom from desire, anger, hatred, attachment, and ego—presenting renunciation and inner discipline as the basis of genuine bhakti.
A divine speaker describes the qualities of ideal seekers (yatis and spiritually minded brāhmaṇas): they are peace-oriented, self-controlled, and intent on understanding, and therefore they continually contemplate and worship the Divine. The statement functions as instruction, characterizing the path and temperament of those fit for higher spiritual realization.
