Educational Q&A

The verse presents a vision of divine immanence: all classes of beings—celestial, demonic, and earthly, including the immovable and inert—are contained within the divine body. Ethically, it supports a worldview of interconnectedness and reverence toward all existence, since all are encompassed by the same ultimate reality.

Vaiśampāyana describes a theophanic or cosmic perspective in which the addressed divine figure is portrayed as containing the entire cosmos. The statement magnifies the deity’s all-encompassing nature by listing major orders of beings and concluding that the whole world is present within that form.
