Vaiśampāyana said: “By your command, O king, we shall cast aside all concern for honor and dishonor and roam the forests without fear. First, by staying for a time in a nearby place, we will entice them into thinking the search should be conducted there; then we will move on to a far-off region, so that they will not be able to discover our whereabouts.”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights disciplined obedience and strategic restraint: setting aside personal pride (honor/dishonor) to follow rightful instruction and protect a larger dharmic aim through prudent concealment.

The speaker explains a plan to avoid being found: they will first stay near enough to mislead the searchers into focusing locally, then shift to a distant region so their true location remains undiscovered.
