त्वदर्थयोगप्रभवप्रधाना: शमं करिष्याम परान् समेत्य
tvadarthayogaprabhavapradhānāḥ śamaṃ kariṣyāma parān sametya
Vaiśampāyana said: “Moved chiefly by the power born of our disciplined resolve for your sake, we shall go forth, confront the opposing party, and bring about peace.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when compelled to meet an opposing side, the higher aim should be śama—pacification and restoration of order—guided by disciplined resolve (yoga) and loyalty to a rightful purpose.
The speaker frames an intended encounter with adversaries not as aggression for its own sake, but as an action undertaken ‘for your sake,’ with the stated goal of bringing about peace after meeting the opposing party.
