Arjuna said: “O Pārtha, none is equal to you in this world, for you possess the weapons together with their five proper procedures. O Dhanañjaya, you fully know their application in battle, their withdrawal, and their repetition. Therefore, the time has come to render the teacher’s due.”

Educational Q&A

Mastery is not merely possessing power (astras) but knowing the disciplined procedures for its ethical use—how to apply, withdraw, and repeat it correctly—and then honoring the guru through proper recompense (guru-dakṣiṇā).

Arjuna addresses himself by epithets (Pārtha, Dhanañjaya) in a formal heroic register, emphasizing that he has learned the complete operational methods of astras (including application and withdrawal). This serves as a transition to the obligation of offering guru-dakṣiṇā after completing instruction.
