Arjuna said: “All this seems to me to surpass even Indra—such is your greatness.” Having spoken thus, Mātali entered the sky and showed me the celestial abodes and the gods’ mansions and aerial cars; then that chariot, yoked with green-hued horses, moved onward still higher. The passage underscores reverence for extraordinary virtue and the ethical idea that true excellence is recognized not merely by power, but by the awe it inspires and the higher realms it opens to one’s vision.

The verse highlights discernment in praise: Arjuna recognizes a greatness that seems to exceed even Indra’s, implying that true excellence is measured by virtue and the transformative vision it grants, not merely by rank or power.
After Arjuna’s statement of admiration, Mātali takes him into the sky and shows him the gods’ dwellings and celestial vehicles; then the chariot drawn by green-hued horses ascends even higher, marking a guided tour of higher worlds.
