Arjuna said: “O best of the Bharatas! Today I am witnessing something truly strange and wondrous: though seated upon this divine chariot, you do not shift even a step from your place. Indeed, I have always observed that even Indra, the lord of the gods, cannot remain entirely unshaken at the moment when the horses first take flight; yet you, O ornament of the Kuru line, sit steady and composed even while the chariot wheels and circles through the sky.”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadiness (sthairya) and self-mastery: true excellence is shown not merely by possessing divine means (a celestial chariot) but by remaining inwardly unmoved amid extraordinary motion and spectacle.

Arjuna addresses a revered Kuru hero as the chariot moves through the sky. He expresses astonishment that the person remains perfectly steady on the divine chariot—more composed than even Indra is said to be when the horses first take flight.
