Hanūmān’s Embrace, Counsel, and Promise to Amplify Bhīma’s Battle-Roar

सब लोग सदा एक परमात्मदेवमें ही चित्त लगाये रहते थे। सब लोग एक परमात्माके ही नामका जप और उन्हींकी सेवा-पूजा किया करते थे। सबके वर्णाश्रमानुसार पृथक्- पृथक् धर्म होनेपर भी वे एकमात्र वेदको ही माननेवाले थे और एक ही सनातनधर्मके अनुयायी थे ।। चातुराश्रम्ययुक्तेन कर्मणा कालयोगिना । अकामफलसंयोगातृ प्राप्रुवन्ति परां गतिम्,सत्ययुगके लोग समय-समयपर किये जानेवाले चार आश्रमसम्बन्धी सत्कर्मोंका अनुष्ठान करके कर्म-फलकी कामना और आसक्ति न होनेके कारण परम गति प्राप्त कर लेते थे
cāturāśramya-yuktena karmaṇā kāla-yoginā | akāma-phala-saṃyogāt prāpnuvanti parāṃ gatim ||
Bhīma said: In the age of truth, people kept their minds steadily fixed on the one Supreme Lord. They continually recited His name and engaged in His service and worship. Though duties differed according to one’s varṇa and āśrama, they acknowledged the one Veda alone and followed a single, eternal dharma. By performing, at the proper times, the virtuous works enjoined for the four āśramas, and because they were free from desire and attachment to the fruits of action, they attained the highest state.
