Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path

Vaiśampāyana said: He was almost impossible to look at, for he flashed like a sudden bolt of lightning. His body’s radiance was tawny-golden, like lightning striking down. His roar resounded like the thunder of a thunderbolt, and he seemed restless and swift, again like lightning itself—an awe-inspiring manifestation that warns against pride and urges reverence before overwhelming power.
The verse uses lightning imagery to convey overwhelming, ungraspable power—suggesting that such force should inspire humility and caution, not arrogance, and that one should respond with reverence and self-restraint.
Vaiśampāyana describes a formidable figure whose brilliance, color, roar, and restless motion resemble a lightning strike, emphasizing the terror and majesty of the moment through repeated similes.
