Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic reverence for sacred spaces: worship (arcana), disciplined ritual (homa), and physical cleanliness (sweeping and plastering) together create an atmosphere of purity and auspiciousness. Ethical devotion is shown not only in intention but also in careful upkeep and respectful offerings.

Ghaṭotkaca describes a hermitage he has encountered (or is drawing attention to) as exceptionally sanctified—honoured by offerings and fire-rites, meticulously cleaned and plastered, and beautified with celestial flowers—setting a devotional and auspicious scene for the events around the āśrama.
