Vāyu said: “In gambling, within a single day one’s wealth is surely ruined, and calamity alone becomes certain. Even the goods meant for enjoyment perish without being enjoyed, and in return one gains nothing but harsh, bitter speech. These and many other faults arise from the gambling episode, bringing painful consequences.”

Gambling is portrayed as a destructive vice: it quickly ruins wealth, brings inevitable misfortune, wastes enjoyments before they are even experienced, and results in social harm through abusive speech and conflict.
Vāyudeva speaks as a moral adviser, listing the concrete harms that follow from gambling—rapid loss of property, the onset of calamity, wasted resources, and the bitter aftermath of harsh words—framing gambling as a cause of grievous outcomes.
