hiraṇmayībhir gābhir viśvaṃ kṛtābhir viśvakarmaṇā | brāhmaṇāṃs tarpayāmāsa nānādibhyaḥ samāgatān | yudhiṣṭhira! bhinna-bhinna-sthāneṣu yajñaṃ kurvadbhir mahāmanā rājñā gayasya rājyasya svalpā bhūmir eva śeṣābhavat yatra yajña-maṇḍapā na syuḥ |
With golden cows fashioned by Viśvakarman, he satisfied the Brahmins who had gathered from many directions. O Yudhiṣṭhira, that high-minded King Gaya performed sacrifices in so many different places that scarcely any land remained in his kingdom where sacrificial pavilions were not set up. The passage highlights royal dharma expressed through generosity and the public good achieved by sustaining the priestly and ritual order.
