Vaiśampāyana said: Having visited that sacred ford by the sea, he set out again with his brothers. Traveling along the coastal pilgrimage route, he once more arrived at the holy place Prabhāsa—widely renowned across the earth, especially because of the presence and sanctity of eminent Brahmins. The passage underscores the Mahābhārata’s ethic that tīrtha-yātrā is not mere travel but a disciplined return to places where dharma is preserved and clarified through learned, self-restrained spiritual communities.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic value of tīrtha-yātrā: returning to renowned sacred places—especially those upheld by learned and disciplined Brahmins—is portrayed as a means of moral and spiritual reorientation, not merely physical movement.

After visiting a sea-side tīrtha, the traveler (with his brothers) continues along the coastal pilgrimage route and arrives again at Prabhāsa, a major sacred site famous throughout the world.
