The Arrival of Maitreya and the Admonition to Duryodhana

tasmin hate toyadatulyarūpe kṛṣṇāṃ puraskṛtya narendraputrāḥ | bhīmaṃ praśaṃsathātha guṇair anekaiḥ haśastato dvaitavanāya jagmuḥ ||

When that rākṣasa—dark as a rain-cloud in form—had been slain, the sons of the king (the Pāṇḍavas), placing Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) at their head, rejoiced. They extolled Bhīma with many praises for his virtues and prowess, and then set out from there toward the Dvaitavana forest—affirming the dharmic duty of protecting the vulnerable and honoring the one who upholds it.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic conduct after danger is removed: protect those under one’s care, acknowledge and praise genuine virtue (guṇa) and courage, and proceed together with proper regard for dignity—symbolized by placing Draupadī at the forefront.

After a cloud-dark rākṣasa is slain, the Pāṇḍavas rejoice, praise Bhīma for his many qualities, place Draupadī in front, and depart toward the Dvaitavana forest.
