Educational Q&A

When violent forces unite under a powerful leader and act without restraint, the result is pramāda and pramathana—social and cosmic upheaval. The verse frames such oppression as a sign of adharma that calls for restoration of order and protection of beings.

The speaker describes a notorious and terrifying band of Dānavas called the Kāleyas. By aligning themselves with (or taking support of) Vṛtra, they caused widespread devastation and panic across the world.
