समुद्रपानम् (Samudra-pānam) — Maitrāvaruṇi Drains the Ocean; Devas Seek a Means to Refill It
त्वत्प्रसादान्महाबाहो लोका: सर्वे जगत्पते । विनाशं नाधिगच्छेयुस्त्वया वै परिरक्षिता:,महाबाहो! जगत्पते! आप ऐसी कृपा करें, जिससे आपके द्वारा सुरक्षित होकर सब लोग विनाशको न प्राप्त हों
tvatprasādān mahābāho lokāḥ sarve jagatpate | vināśaṃ nādhigaccheyus tvayā vai parirakṣitāḥ ||
O mighty-armed Lord of the world, by your gracious favor may all beings, protected by you, never fall into ruin. The speaker appeals to the ruler’s duty of guardianship: when the powerful extend protection with compassion, the many are preserved from destruction.
