Vaiśampāyana said: “O noble one! By speaking timely words supported by sound reasoning and clear causes, you will be able to pacify Queen Gāndhārī quickly. Our grandsire, the revered Vyāsa, will also be present there at this time.” Then they dispatched the Yādava hero, the slayer of Nāga (Kṛṣṇa). And the mighty Vāsudeva set out at once, swiftly.

Educational Q&A

In moments of intense grief and moral crisis, one should respond with timely speech grounded in reason and clear causes—words that aim at calming and restoring dharma rather than inflaming anger. The presence of a wise authority (Vyāsa) underscores that ethical counsel should be anchored in higher insight, not mere persuasion.

After the war, Gāndhārī is to be pacified. The speakers express confidence that the addressed person can calm her through appropriate, well-reasoned counsel, noting that Vyāsa will also be there. They then dispatch Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva), who departs immediately and swiftly.
