Sañjaya said: “At such a time, one should recognize the inner heaviness of mind at once, and promptly become a maker of peace—striving quickly to avert the harm that has arisen, whether it concerns oneself or one’s friends.”

When adversity strikes oneself or one’s allies, one should not remain indifferent; one must perceive the mind’s distress as a moral signal and act swiftly to restore peace and prevent further loss.
In Sañjaya’s report within the Shalya Parva context, a general ethical instruction is voiced: timely awareness of inner grief should lead to immediate, practical efforts to pacify conflict and protect friends from harm.
