nātiprasiddheva gatiḥ pāṇḍavānām ajāyata | rathamārgaṃ tataḥ śukre bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: The Pāṇḍavas’ advance became as though uncertain and obstructed. All around lay huge, mountain-like elephants, crushed under the blows of Bhīmasena and Arjuna; because of them, moving forward became exceedingly difficult. Then the mighty Bhīmasena cleared a path for the chariots.

Even in a righteous but harsh duty like war, progress can be blocked by the consequences of one’s own force; the passage highlights steadfast effort and practical leadership—removing obstacles so the larger mission can continue.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield where many gigantic elephants lie crushed by Bhīma and Arjuna. Their fallen bodies obstruct the Pāṇḍavas’ advance, so Bhīma then clears/open a route for the chariots to move forward.
