Sauptika Parva, Adhyaya 8 — Dhṛṣṭadyumna-vadha and the Camp’s Nocturnal Rout

Sañjaya said: Leaping down from the chariot-platform, he hurried forward at a run; and in the thick of battle he seized a spotless shield, bright as a thousand moons. The verse underscores the relentless momentum of night-war: swift, decisive action and the taking up of protective arms, where survival and advantage are pursued amid the moral darkness of slaughter.
