विस्नस्तयन्त्रकवचान् मुक्तकेशान् कृताञज्जलीन्
visrastayantrakavacān muktakeśān kṛtāñjalīn
Sañjaya said: “(They were seen) with their weapons and armour loosened and disordered, their hair unbound, and their hands joined in supplication”—a picture of utter defeat and helplessness, where the outward signs of martial readiness give way to the posture of surrender and plea for mercy amid the moral collapse of war’s aftermath.
