नराश्वनागानमितान् निजषघ्नतुः परस्परं चापि महारथौ नृप । नरेश्वर! वे महाधनुर्धर और महारथी वीर महान् अस्त्रोंका प्रयोग करते हुए अपने भयानक बाणोंद्वारा असंख्य मनुष्यों, घोड़ों और हाथियोंका संहार करते और आपसमें भी एक-दूसरेको चोट पहुँचाते थे

Sañjaya said: O King, those two great chariot-warriors, mighty archers, unleashed their formidable missiles and with dreadful arrows slaughtered countless men, horses, and elephants; and in the same fury of battle they also struck each other again and again. The verse underscores the ethical tragedy of war: extraordinary skill and valor, when yoked to wrath and rivalry, become instruments of vast, indiscriminate destruction.
