Sañjaya said: Then once again a most dreadful battle arose between the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas together with the Sṛñjayas. With arrows, swords, spears, lances, maces, and axes it became a taker of the lives of men, horses, and elephants, and the earth was thrown into turmoil. The verse underscores the moral weight of war: when hostility returns, violence rapidly expands beyond heroes to consume entire living hosts, shaking the very ground that bears them.
