Sañjaya said: “O Rādheya, act in such a way that our king may be freed. Bhīmasena is fighting King Duryodhana. O son of Rādhā, while all of us look on, make every effort today so that Bhīma does not slay him. By whatever means possible, our king must be rescued from Bhīmasena.”

Educational Q&A

In the midst of war, counsel emphasizes immediate duty and strategic effort: protect the leader (the king) and prevent an irreversible act (Bhīma killing Duryodhana). The passage highlights loyalty and responsibility under pressure, where ethical focus narrows to safeguarding one’s side and preventing catastrophic loss.

Sañjaya urges Karṇa (addressed as Rādheya/Rādhānandana) to intervene in the duel where Bhīma is fighting Duryodhana, and to ensure—before everyone’s eyes—that Bhīma does not kill Duryodhana, rescuing the Kaurava king by any possible means.
