Transliteration

iti śrīmahābhārate karṇaparvaṇi karṇaśalyādhikṣepe ekonacatvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ

Translation

Thus ends the thirty-ninth chapter in the Karṇa Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, in the section concerning Karṇa’s reproachful exchange with Śalya. The colophon marks the close of a narrative unit in which harsh speech and wounded pride unfold amid the moral strain of war.
