Sañjaya said: Hearing these words of his brother, the Pāṇḍava Arjuna—he whose chariot is drawn by white horses—counter-arrayed that host by forming his own troops into a half-moon formation. In the moral pressure of war, the response is not mere aggression but disciplined strategy: a measured, protective deployment meant to meet force with order rather than chaos.

Even amid violence, right conduct expresses itself as restraint and order: a warrior-leader answers threat with disciplined, proportionate strategy (vyūha), aiming to protect his side and reduce chaos rather than acting from impulse.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna, after hearing his brother’s words, responds on the battlefield by arranging the Pāṇḍava forces into an ardhacandra (half-moon) formation to counter the opposing host’s deployment.
