Iti prakāraḥ Śrīmahābhārate Droṇaparvake antargataṃ Jayadrathavadhaparvaṇi Arjunayuddhaviṣayakaḥ navāśītitamo 'dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ.
Sanjaya said: Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Droṇa Parva—specifically in the section concerning the slaying of Jayadratha—the eighty-ninth chapter, dealing with Arjuna’s battle, is concluded.
संजय उवाच
As a colophon, the verse primarily teaches attentiveness to textual structure: it marks the completion of a unit of narration focused on Arjuna’s warfare within the larger ethical frame of the Kurukṣetra conflict, where duty (dharma) and consequence are continually weighed.
The narrator Sañjaya signals that the chapter dealing with Arjuna’s battle—situated in Droṇa Parva under the Jayadratha-slaying section—has ended, serving as a formal transition point before the next chapter.
