धृतराष्ट्रस्य मूर्च्छा तथा द्रोणविषयकप्रश्नाः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Fainting and Questions Concerning Droṇa
अनर्हमाणान् कौन्तेयान् कर्मणस्तस्य तत् फलम् | मैंने अमर्षमें भरकर सदा कष्ट भोगनेके अयोग्य कुन्तीकुमारोंको क्लेश ही दिया है; परंतु मेरे इस बर्तावको द्रोणाचार्यने चुपचाप सह लिया था। उनके उसी कर्मका यह वधरूपी फल प्राप्त हुआ है
an-arhamāṇān kaunteyān karmaṇas tasya tat phalam |
Dhṛtarāṣṭra reflects with remorse: he had long, out of smouldering resentment, inflicted only hardship upon the sons of Kuntī—men who did not deserve such suffering. Droṇācārya had silently endured that conduct; now, Dhṛtarāṣṭra sees Droṇa’s death as the grim fruit of that very wrongdoing, returning as a consequence in the midst of war.
