Sanjaya said: Arjuna, endowed with keen power of recollection, reflected within himself, “May that come to pass for me.” Knowing Lord Śaṅkara to be exceedingly pleased, he mentally recalled the vision and boon he had once received from Śaṅkara during his time of exile, and he longed that the purpose behind that divine favor should now be fulfilled.

In crisis, a dharmic warrior steadies himself by remembrance of divine grace and prior spiritual attainments; inner recollection strengthens resolve and aligns action with a higher purpose rather than mere anger or fear.
Sanjaya describes Arjuna mentally recalling the earlier occasion during exile when he received Śiva’s vision and boon, recognizing Śiva’s favor, and wishing that the boon’s intended purpose be realized in the present battle situation.
