Sañjaya said: In front of him there arose the resonant sweetness of songs and musical instruments, accompanied by laughter and graceful dance. The attendant hosts leapt about, spread their arms, clapped and cried out loudly, displaying their arts to delight the Lord; and in that service, pure and fragrant offerings were presented. The scene underscores how devotion can take the form of disciplined celebration—yet, in the wider war-epic setting, such festivity also throws into relief the contrast between sacred reverence and the surrounding violence of the age.

The verse highlights bhakti expressed through refined, disciplined joy—music, dance, and auspicious offerings offered as service. Ethically, it suggests that aesthetic pleasure becomes elevating when oriented toward reverence and purity rather than mere indulgence.
Sañjaya describes a celebratory, devotional scene: songs and instruments resound, laughter and graceful dance are performed, attendants leap and clap while shouting acclamations, and fragrant, pure substances are offered in service to the revered figure being honored.
