सहस्रमिव सूर्याणां दीप्यमानं स्वतेजसा । शूलिनं जटिलं गौरं वल्कलाजिनवाससम्‌,वे अपने तेजसे सहस्रों सूर्योके समान प्रकाशित हो रहे थे। उनके हाथमें त्रिशूल, मस्तकपर जटा और श्रीअंगोंपर वल्कल एवं मृगचर्मके वस्त्र शोभा पा रहे थे। उनकी कान्ति गौरवर्णकी थी

sahasram iva sūryāṇāṃ dīpyamānaṃ svatejasā | śūlinaṃ jaṭilaṃ gauraṃ valkalājinavāsasam |

Sañjaya said: He blazed with his own radiance like a thousand suns. Bearing a trident, matted-haired, fair in hue, and clad in bark-garments and a deerskin, he appeared in austere splendor—an embodiment of ascetic power entering the war-narrative as a force that commands reverence and restraint.
