Yudhiṣṭhira said: “With our forces drawn up in ordered battle-formations, we checked Droṇa on every side and in every way. And whenever he strove in the fight—re-forming and counter-forming his chariot-divisions—we too repeatedly arrayed our army in formation and prevented him from advancing.”

Even in a dharma-framed war, success depends on disciplined organization and restraint: coordinated formations and timely counter-formations can check even a superior commander. The verse highlights collective duty and strategic self-control rather than reckless heroics.
Yudhiṣṭhira describes how the Pāṇḍava side repeatedly arranged their troops in battle-formations to block Droṇa’s advance. As Droṇa attempted to maneuver his chariot corps through new formations, they responded with counter-formations to hold him back on the battlefield.
