Sanjaya said: O King, Karna’s brother—bow in hand—roared fiercely, repeatedly drawing back the bowstring, and swiftly drove his chariot into the space between those two great-souled warriors. The scene underscores how, in the frenzy of battle, kinship and allegiance propel men into perilous interventions, tightening the spiral of violence and retaliation.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how martial zeal and loyalty—especially to one’s kin and side—can drive swift, risky action in war. Ethically, it points to the tragic momentum of conflict: interventions meant to protect or avenge often intensify violence and draw more warriors into destruction.

Sanjaya reports that Karna’s brother, roaring and repeatedly drawing his bowstring, quickly advances his chariot into the gap between two prominent fighters’ chariots—positioning himself directly in the line of combat and signaling an imminent clash.
