आयावं तुमुलं॑ कुर्वन्नभ्यवर्तत तान् रणे । तस्मिन् संत्यजति प्राणान् मृत्युसाधारणीकृते,तत्पश्चात् भयंकर गर्जना करते हुए भीमने रणक्षेत्रमें उन सबका सामना किया। भीमसेन मृत्युके तुल्य अवस्थामें पहुँच गये थे और अपने प्राणोंका परित्याग करना चाहते थे। उसी समय अजातशत्रु युधिष्ठिरने अपने योद्धाओंको यह कहकर आगे बढ़नेकी आज्ञा दी कि “तुम सब लोग भीमसेनकी रक्षा करो।” यह सुनकर वे अमित तेजस्वी वीर भीमसेनके समीप चले

āyāntaṁ tumulaṁ kurvann abhyavartata tān raṇe |
tasmin santyajati prāṇān mṛtyusādhāraṇīkṛte ||
Sañjaya said: Raising a dreadful uproar, he advanced against them in the battle. At that moment, when he had been brought to a condition as good as death and seemed ready to give up his life, Yudhiṣṭhira—Ajātaśatru—ordered his warriors to move forward, saying, “All of you protect Bhīmasena.” Hearing this, the mighty heroes went near the immeasurably radiant Bhīma, upholding their duty of comradeship amid the terror of war.
संजय उवाच
Even in the chaos of war, dharma expresses itself as responsibility toward one’s own—protecting a comrade in peril and acting under righteous leadership rather than abandoning a fallen ally.
Bhīma confronts the enemy with a terrifying roar, but he is pushed into a death-like condition. Yudhiṣṭhira commands the Pāṇḍava fighters to advance and protect Bhīma, and they move toward him to provide support.
