0 ते दिश:ः खं च सैन्यं च समावृण्वन् महाहवे । मुहूर्ताद् भास्करस्येव लोके राजन् गभस्तय:,राजन! जैसे दो ही घड़ीमें सूर्यकी किरणें सारे संसारमें फैल जाती हैं, उसी प्रकार उस महासमरमें वे बाण सम्पूर्ण दिशाओं, आकाश और समस्त सेनाओंमें छा गये
te diśaḥ khaṃ ca sainyaṃ ca samāvṛṇvan mahāhave | muhūrtād bhāskarasy eva loke rājan gabhastayaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: In that great battle, those shafts spread out and covered the directions, the sky, and the armies—just as, O King, within a brief moment the sun’s rays pervade the whole world. The image underscores how swiftly and overwhelmingly human violence can expand once unleashed on the battlefield.
संजय उवाच
The verse uses a natural simile to show how rapidly and completely destructive force can pervade a human sphere once set in motion; it invites reflection on the overwhelming, indiscriminate spread of violence in war.
Sañjaya reports to the king that in the great battle a rain of arrows became so dense that it seemed to cover all directions, the sky, and the armies, like the sun’s rays quickly filling the world.
