तथोक्त्वा योगमास्थाय ज्योतिर्भूतो महातपा: । पुराणं पुरुषं विष्णुं जगाम मनसा परम्,वे महातपस्वी द्रोण पूर्वोक्त बात कहकर योगका आश्रय ले ज्योतिः:स्वरूप परब्रह्मसे अभिन्नताका अनुभव करते हुए मन-ही-मन सर्वोत्कृष्ट पुराणपुरुष भगवान् विष्णुका ध्यान करने लगे
tathoktvā yogam āsthāya jyotir-bhūto mahātapāḥ | purāṇaṃ puruṣaṃ viṣṇuṃ jagāma manasā param ||
Sañjaya said: Having spoken thus, the great ascetic took refuge in yoga. Becoming as it were a being of light—realizing identity with the supreme radiance—he turned inward and, in his mind alone, reached the Highest, meditating upon Viṣṇu, the primeval Person. In the midst of war’s violence, the verse frames the final act as an ethical inward withdrawal: mastery of self and devotion to the Supreme rather than clinging to fear, anger, or worldly gain.
