Iti prakāraḥ Śrīmahābhārate Droṇaparvaṇi antargate Droṇavadhaparvaṇi rātriyuddhasamaye senāyā nidrāviṣayakaḥ ekaśata-caturaśītitamo 'dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ.
Sañjaya said: Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Droṇa Parva—specifically in the section concerning the slaying of Droṇa—during the time of the night-battle, the 184th chapter, dealing with the army’s state of sleep, is concluded. The closing note frames the moral tension of warfare: even in a campaign driven by duty and vengeance, human limits like exhaustion and sleep shape outcomes and expose the vulnerability of warriors amid adharma-tinged night fighting.
संजय उवाच
As a chapter-ending colophon, it highlights a key ethical lens of the epic: war is not only a contest of valor but also a test of restraint and righteousness, and in night fighting especially, fatigue and sleep can erode vigilance and amplify morally fraught actions.
