यद्येतन्न रहस्यं ते वक्तुमर्हस्यरिंदम । धैर्यस्य वैकृतं ब्रूहि त्वमद्य मधुसूदन,“शत्रुदमन! यदि कोई गोपनीय बात न हो तो मुझे अवश्य बतावें। मधुसूदन! आपके इस हर्ष-प्रदर्शनसे आज हमारा धैर्य छूटा जा रहा है, अतः आप इसका कारण अवश्य बतावें

sañjaya uvāca | yady etan na rahasyaṃ te vaktum arhasi rinda­ma | dhairyasy vaikṛtaṃ brūhi tvam adya madhusūdana ||

Sañjaya said: “O subduer of foes, if this is not something that must remain secret and you deem it fit to speak, then tell me. O Madhusūdana, today our composure is being unsettled by this unusual display of elation—therefore, explain its cause.”
