Sañjaya said: Ghaṭotkaca covered Karṇa with a dense shower of arrows, just as Svarbhānu (Rāhu) veils the Sun. Yet the charioteer’s son, Karṇa—unshaken—displayed a prowess like Rudra, Upendra (Viṣṇu), and Indra, meeting the assault with steadfast courage amid the fury of battle.

The verse highlights steadiness under pressure: even when overwhelmed (like the Sun eclipsed), a warrior’s ethical strength is shown by remaining unshaken and responding with disciplined valor rather than panic.
Ghaṭotkaca unleashes a heavy volley of arrows that seems to blot out Karṇa, compared to Rāhu eclipsing the Sun; Karṇa, however, remains composed and counters with formidable, near-divine prowess.
