Droṇa’s Withdrawal, Death, and the Kaurava Rout (द्रोणनिधन-प्रसङ्गः)

संजय उवाच ततः सर्वाणि सैन्यानि हतशिष्टानि यानि वै । सेनागोप्तृनथादिश्य पुनर्व्यूहमकल्पयत्‌

sañjaya uvāca tataḥ sarvāṇi sainyāni hataśiṣṭāni yāni vai | senāgoptṝn athādiśya punarvyūham akalpayat ||

Sañjaya said: Then, gathering whatever troops still remained after the slaughter, he appointed protectors and commanders for the army and once again arranged the forces into a fresh battle-formation. The verse underscores the grim persistence of war: even after heavy loss, leadership reorganizes what is left, prioritizing order and control amid devastation.
