Saubhadro 'py aśaniprakhyāṁ pragṛhya mahatīṁ gadām | eho hīty abravīc chalyaṁ yatnād bhīmena vāritaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Abhimanyu, the son of Subhadrā, also came forward, lifting a massive mace that seemed like a thunderbolt. Crying, “Come! Come!”, he challenged Śalya. Yet Bhīmasena, with great effort, restrained him—signaling that even in the fury of battle, discipline and ordered engagement must govern valor.
संजय उवाच
Heroism in dharmic warfare is not mere aggression; it must be governed by restraint and proper order. Bhīma’s preventing Abhimanyu highlights that even righteous courage should submit to discipline, strategy, and the ethics of engagement.
Abhimanyu advances with a huge mace, taunts and challenges Śalya to fight, but Bhīma forcibly holds him back, preventing an immediate clash.
