Sañjaya said: Abhimanyu, the son of Subhadrā, also came forward, lifting a massive mace that seemed like a thunderbolt. Crying, “Come! Come!”, he challenged Śalya. Yet Bhīmasena, with great effort, restrained him—signaling that even in the fury of battle, discipline and ordered engagement must govern valor.

Educational Q&A

Heroism in dharmic warfare is not mere aggression; it must be governed by restraint and proper order. Bhīma’s preventing Abhimanyu highlights that even righteous courage should submit to discipline, strategy, and the ethics of engagement.

Abhimanyu advances with a huge mace, taunts and challenges Śalya to fight, but Bhīma forcibly holds him back, preventing an immediate clash.
