Sañjaya said: Having overcome the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the great chariot-warriors of the Pāṇḍavas shone forth in the battle, O King, like blazing fires—an image that underscores how victory in war manifests as visible prowess and morale, even as the conflict remains morally weighty and destructive.

The verse highlights how martial success makes a warrior’s presence and confidence visibly radiant—likened to fire—while implicitly reminding the listener that such brilliance arises within the grave, ethically charged setting of war.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pāṇḍava mahārathas have defeated the Dhārtarāṣṭra forces in that phase of the battle and are now conspicuously resplendent on the battlefield, like blazing fires.
