Educational Q&A

Even within the harsh duty of war, action is portrayed as deliberate and proportioned: the narrative highlights disciplined force directed at key leaders, reflecting kṣatriya-dharma where resolve and strategy operate within an accepted martial code.

Sañjaya reports a warrior (contextually, a principal fighter in the battle) striking major Kaurava figures—Śalya, Duryodhana, Vṛṣasena, and Jayadratha—with specified numbers of arrows, signaling an escalation and a tactical focus on prominent commanders.
